How should we define failure after surgical shoulder stabilization?

چکیده
If 2 alternating half-hitches are required to back up the SPK, it is more time-consuming to tie than the SMC and Revo knots and potentially stacks higher, thus eliminating 2 of its most attractive features. Ultimately, our goal was to test the SPK in a manner that could be safely translated into our clinical practice. In our study we determined that the SPK tied with a single backup half-hitch is a clinically safe, efficient, and low-profile knot that is useful in our practice.

The Influence of Evidence-Based Surgical Indications and Techniques on Failure Rates After Arthroscopic Shoulder Stabilization in the Contact or Collision Athlete With Anterior Shoulder Instability.
BACKGROUND It has been reported that arthroscopic shoulder stabilization yields higher rates of failure in contact or collision athletes as compared with open shoulder stabilization; however, this is largely based upon studies that do not employ modern, evidence-based surgical indications and techniques for arthroscopic shoulder stabilization. PURPOSE To (1) determine the pooled failure rate ...
متن کاملOutcomes after bankart repair in a military population: predictors for surgical revision and long-term disability.
PURPOSE To quantify the rate of surgical failure after anterior shoulder stabilization procedures, as well as to identify demographic and surgical risk factors associated with poor outcomes. METHODS All Army patients undergoing arthroscopic or open Bankart repair for shoulder instability were isolated from the Military Health System Management Analysis and Reporting Tool between 2003 and 2010...
متن کاملCurrent clinical trends in first time traumatic anterior shoulder dislocation
Anterior shoulder dislocation is a common traumatic event. Younger patients have increased risk for recurrent dislocations. Reduction of shoulder dislocation should be performed in a safe, convenient and patient tailored method. In young athletes with labral tear or with large engaging Hill-Sachs lesion, surgical stabilization should be considered to prevent additional dislocations. In other pa...
متن کاملConservative treatment of first-time shoulder dislocation with the arm in external rotation.
Nonoperative treatment of traumatic first-time shoulder dislocation has remained the same for a long time. The recurrence rate of nonoperative treatment is unacceptably high, especially in young and active patients. In an earlier study, we demonstrated the superiority of immobilization in external rotation over conventional treatment. Arthroscopic stabilization is being increasingly recommended...
متن کاملGlenohumeral arthropathy following stabilization for recurrent instability.
Little attention has been focused on the most common risk factors for post-operative glenohumeral arthropathy in patients undergoing open and arthroscopic stabilization. We performed a literature search using Medline, Cochrane and Google Scholar using the keywords: 'Shoulder instability surgery' in combination with 'glenohumeral osteoarthrosis', 'recurrent shoulder dislocation' in combination w...
